FAQs

  • This is the ideal time before your wedding day to meet and discuss your ideas. You are encouraged to bring photos of the makeup looks you have in mind. Feel free to email any photo’s beforehand for inspiration. With photos, please be mindful that many Instagram and Pinterest makeup photos are heavily manipulated with retouching, filters and lighting tricks to give an unrealistic impression which is impossible for any makeup artist to recreate fully.

It is a good idea to wear a nice top or dress in a similar shade to your wedding dress – this will help you imagine how it will look.

(When you are all done and looking beautiful after the trial, always take selfies facing a window in natural light for truer colours and finer details. Never photograph under a downlight or in a heavily lit room).

  • You are welcome to book in for a trial anytime, however with years of experience working

with brides, I recommend 6-8 weeks before. I know that your style and idea’s will often change throughout the run up to the big day. Your skin type and shade changes from season to season as well as the length and condition of your hair.

  • Trials run Tuesday to Friday from my home, 69 Waddle Road, Micklefield, Leeds LS25 4EP - Appointment times are either 10am or 1pm.

  • Your trial is an essential time to communicate with me your ideas and vision for the wedding day. Communication is key, please also be realistic in what will work and be honest with your feedback. I am happy to work with you to create a flawless look for your day to the very best of my ability. If you go away and feel you would like to trial a different look or tweak the existing one, I am more than happy to work with you.

  • Yes, if the timings allow on the morning. My maximum number of people is 6 (strictly dependant on timings on the wedding day) to give the best possible service.

Please be aware, yourself and the bridal party have an allocated time to be ready on the wedding morning. It is not usually possible to accommodate extra people on the morning without prior notice.

  • For a bride, 45 mins to an hour for makeup is allocated and around 45 mins per person for the bridal party. I will always make sure you are all flawless and all have the final finishing touches before you leave.

  • You will be advised of this at the trial. Almost every bride will need her recommended lipstick for a top-up throughout the day and if you have oily skin, a compact of translucent face powder is a must for the t-zone.

  • If you are concerned about how you like your makeup and the amount you normally wear, please arrive with your makeup on. This helps me to see your preferences and how much you are used to. For example, natural makeup means very different things to different people.

  • For a bridal makeup trial, I always work one-to-one with a bride. This gives us both the best chance to get to know each other and for me to fully understand the look you want to achieve, without any distractions. It is always difficult for us both to focus on achieving your perfect look when there are questions, comments and recommendations from other members of the bridal party, however well meaning. I am your own personal makeup artist and together I will design the perfect look for you - this is your time!

All other bridal party trials will be scheduled in later the same day or on a separate day. Trials for the bridal party are not essential but recommended if they would like to try out something new.

  • Expect only the best high-end luxury products. These include Charlotte Tilbury, Bobbi Brown, Laura Mercier, Vieve, Nars, Saie and Gorgio Armani (Eyeliners and mascara are always longwearing and waterproof).

  • A good skincare routine on the run up to the big day is key to glowing skin which is essential for beautiful makeup! I will assess your skin type at the consultation and advise you on the key things you can do to help your skin look and feel its best.

  • It is essential. Will the makeup compliment your overall look, suit your skin and feel comfortable to wear whilst lasting all day?

  • Depending on the time of year, when you are getting married and the lighting conditions, it is designed to photograph beautifully. I always use camera friendly formulations and nothing that would cause the dreaded flashback due to flash photography. Even for a very natural look it is usually a little more makeup than you would expect, however it will define your features for camera and still look natural.

  • A bridal makeup trial and consultation will be approx. 90 mins. A bridesmaid or mother of bride trial lasts approx. 60 mins.

  • Minor changes and tweaks are always accommodated. If a completely different makeup look is requested and the guideline timings do not allow, extra trial time must be booked.
